Stephen Duncombe and Andrew Mattson met when they were both students at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.  Since that time they have coedited a fanzine of historical primary documents, cohosted a show on a pirate radio station, cowritten scholarly articles, and taught together.  Duncombe currently teaches history and politics of media at the Gallatin School of New York University, and Mattson teaches American studies and media history at the State University of New York at Old Westbury.  They both live in New York City. 

Stephen Duncombe is also the author of Notes from the Underground: Zines and the Politics of Alternative Culture and the editor of the Cultural Resistance Reader.
